Gingerbread love - 7 Dots Studio

Hi there! Today I'm sharing the first of two layouts I created for 7 Dots Studio this month. I'm sharing the other page tomorrow, but if you want to see them already today, please head over to 7 Dots Studio's own blog (link).

The idea behind the two is to use the same composition, just flip it from right to left and to use other colors and embellishments as well. Even though the same composition is in use as well as the background treatment, the pages look different, mostly because of the color.

I use the two newest collections in the layouts – this brown, vintage colored one is done using the “Writer’s Block” and the other, minty, teal one using “Cotton Candy Dreams”. Both collections are by the lovely, talented DeeDee Catron.

I’m so happy to be able to work with these collections as they fill my every need! The “Writer’s Block” is perfect to those vintage, grungy, ephemera-styled pages where as “Cotton Candy Dreams” speaks to my more modern side. What a great combination!

This page is about gingerbreads. To me baking these lovely treats is the start for the Holiday season. I love especially the scent they bring to the whole house when you boil the spices and sugar and syrup together. Because of the scent, I also added a cinnamon stick to my page. The background paper reminded me about kitchen towels as well, so it fitted the theme also. I really love gingerbreads so it’s “a true love story”.

What marks the start of your Holiday season?

Rudolf turned blue - Craft Stamper

Starry start to December! I'm celebrating the start of the Christmas month with this wintery project. The reindeer was done for the December 2015 issue of Craft Stamper and shown in a 3D article. Boy, I can't believe that's over a year ago!

The topic of that gallery was altered reindeer. The shape was a printable which all the people taking part to the gallery could interpret the way they wanted. I went with my favorite color scheme and created a chilly reindeer. No red-nosed reindeer but complete blue one - Rudolf turned blue!

The hardest part in making this was sure to keep the sides balanced so the poor reindeer wouldn't fall to its side! Luckily it was quite sturdy so I could add different embellishments and make big clusters to both sides.

Wishing you a lovely start to the new month and joyful waiting for the Holiday season!

Thank You - Prima Marketing

What are you thankful for? This layout was a part of the "We're Thankful For Vintage Emporium" post in Prima's blog (link). There's two layouts and a beautiful journal spread in there so I urge you to take a look!

I’m grateful for so many things in my life. I have a lovely family, dear husband, great job and co-workers, I love my hobby and design teams I’m in… But what I decided to celebrate in this layout is motherhood or rather to thank my girls who push me to be a better person for them and who have given me so much. I wouldn’t be here nor me without them. Love them dearly!

I mixed some foiled details with the lovely vintage look of the Vintage Emporium. The title is done using the Adhesive Rub-Ons and one of the main embellishments are the flowers I cut out of the foiled patterned paper of the “Rossibelle” collection.

If you want to see how the page was made, please see the video below. Like I say in the video, I’m also very grateful of you who watch it and follow my crafty adventures. Thank you, too!

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a lovely Wednesday! And great start to the new month starting tomorrow - December!

Secrets - Finnabair Ambassador

Hi there! How are you today? Fine, I hope! I'm getting so excited for the coming weekend, the workshops in Belgium! So awesome to travel there! As always, I'm trying to post some updates along the weekend to my Instagram if you are interested in seeing some sneaks.

The piece I'm sharing today is something I decided to dedicate as my Finnabair ambassador piece because there's quite a few Finnabair pieces in it. The mediums are mainly from her line as well as the metal embellishments and also the stickers. And talking about workshops, this piece is actually done as a workshop sample. This one is from Sweden, Uppsala. It was fabulous to travel there also - thank you Scrapdraken for the invite!

There's something magical about old scissors. I'm fascinated by their shape! Every time I come across them at flea market I get them to my stash. The beauties in this cover are from Tallinn. We visited the local recycling center while in our summer vacation. My husband almost started to laugh when the seller actually showed how well they still cut through paper when I bought them. He knew that they wouldn't be used for their actual purpose but in something very different.

It's about a month when the big announcement went live both in Finnabair's (link) and in my blog (link). Now there's the first monthly post published in Finnabair's blog with the Brand Ambassadors. The series are called Ambassador's Lounge and the first post is about creative flow (link). About what makes the ambassadors tick, what makes them happiest when creating and what makes ambassador's heart sing when creating. The answers are really interesting read as to me they all describe the same with different words! The joy of letting go, the joy of to be absorbed into the piece you are making. Do you get the same feeling?

The Lounge post asks it, too, but what makes your heart sing when creating? What makes you tick and what's your best creative flow?

Thank you for stopping by today! See you again tomorrow!

Let it snow! - Prima Marketing

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! Oh, I wish there was snow in the ground! For me that's the thing that marks the Holiday season and winter - snow. I'm not delighted to say that most of the month the ground has been bare and the weather dark and dull. But there's hope - maybe it will be white Christmas anyway?

The cards in this post are made for Prima and were showed in this post (link) about Frank Garcia designs. The post shows the beautiful Sweet Peppermint collection which I used in these cards as well as a stamp and die set. Both cards are shaker versions, just done differently. Where as in the minty one the shaker is on top of the background in the white one it's the opposite. In the white one the shaker layer is underneath surface.

Deck the halls and let it snow! Please keep fingers crossed that the snow will fall soon here in Finland! Have a great day!

Vintage Emporium cards - Prima Marketing

Beautiful Sunday! It's been a crazy month so I'm sharing my Prima Marketing monthly projects in these last days of November. But I guess you follow the company blog already so you have seen every one of these already? These cards are made for a Vintage Emporium post (link) with fabulous different projects.

All Prima collections are beautiful but “Vintage Emporium” has a special place in my heart. I’m drawn to the aged paper look, the atmosphere of days passed and the homey feel of the florals. I’ve created several projects using this collection, but never cards. Not before this that is!

For this post I made a set of cards all with similar background and similar mediums used. Where the cards differ is the use of embellishments. I used pieces from the same embellishment sets but made each one an individual.

Thank you for your visit today! Have a great start to the new week!

Life is Good - A Flair for Buttons

Life is good, isn't it? At least when I'm writing this post life is peachy. But what the title refers as well is the happy time I had this spring when I was invited to keep workshops in Britain. It was such an honor and such a joy! Loved every minute of it and I'm more than happy that I get to return there next year. Yay!

This layout is done for A Flair for Buttons Etsy store and the original post can be found here (link).

I used just two flairs in this project. The crown represents Britain and it's indeed from the "UK" set. I guess the "Crafty Chick" doesn't need much explaining. Maybe just a mention that I'm not referring only to myself but naturally to the ladies behind me in the photo and all who attended the four workshops!

The layout was started as a demo sample, but I finished it at home. I was demoing the foiling with the rub-ons but when it came to the title, the whole golden version was just too much. So I added two of the words with the foiled versions and then used just plain black alpha for the "good" part.

One other thing worth mentioning is maybe the use of the washi tape. As I wanted it to be more dimensional than just flat tape, I first adhered it on top of a piece of patterned paper and then attached the piece to the layout. I think the effect is quite nice with the pattern of the paper showing through the sheer tape!

Thank you for your visit! Have a great weekend!
